Sorsogon, known for its breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture, is set to take center stage as the host city for the prestigious Regional PRISAA Games 2024 with the theme βSteadfast on sustaining and advancing grassroots sports development for excellence.β Twenty-seven private colleges from across the Bicol region with 2,321 athletes brimmed with determination qualify as they will embark for the questof glory.
The Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) in collaboration with the City Government of Sorsogon, has done their best efforts in ensuring that the upcoming games will be a resounding success. The Games will serve not only as a platform for athletic prowess but as a catalyst for community cohesion, bringing together the future champions of Bicol Region.
The games are scheduled to take place for several days starting on April 12 to 14, 2024. The Regional PRISAA Games 2024 will feature different array of sporting discipline including, team and individual sport events. The team sports include Baseball, Softball, Basketball 5×5 and 3×3 to be held in Pangpang Gymnasium and SLMCS covered court; Volleyball to be held in TLC, ACI and SLMCS covered court; Sepak Takraw to be held in TLC covered court; Football will take place at Casiguran Technical Vocational School; Badminton Doubles Tabel Tennis Doubles.
The individual sports include Badminton to be held in Balogo Complex, Athletics to take place at Bicol University Track Oval, Boxing at Boxing Gym, Abuyog, Chess and Weightlifting to take place at CCDI Sorsogon Main Campus, Taekwondo, Karatedo, Gymnastics and Table Tennis to take place at SM City, Swimming at BU swimming pool, Billiards to be held in Felix Billiard and Resto Bar, Pangpang, Sorsogon, Archery to be held in City Hall Compound. PRISAA events also include Cultural Events; Vocal Solo and Vocal Duet, Mutya ng PRISAA to be held in SM City Event Center, PRISAAyawan at Sorsogon Arena, Oratorical to take place at SCCI Audio Visual Hall.
Beyond the thrill of victory, the games embody the values of sportsmanship, camaraderie and fair play and fostering a sense of unity. As Sorsogon opens its arms to welcome athletes and visitors from far and wide, it promises to showcase its sporting infrastructure but also its warm hospitality.
