Beach Volleyball

1. RULES

All matches shall be played in accordance with FIVB beach volleyball rules, unless provided for in this ground rules.

2. TEAM COMPOSITION

• Each team shall be composed of THREE (3) players only.
• Substitution of players is allowed, but after the substitution, player being substituted cannot re-enter for the remainder of the match.
• If a player is injured, (injury protocol shall be applied)
• Coach is allowed to sit on the team bench but have no right to intervene on the match.

3. TOURNAMENT FORMAT

3.1 If the total number of teams in each category (men/women) is less than eight, single round robin shall be applied, top four teams shall advance to the semi-final matches, R1 vs R4 , R2 vs R3 , winners shall play for championship and 1st runner-up, and the loser shall play for 2nd and 3rd runner-up.

3.2 If the total number of teams is more than eight but not to exceed ten, teams shall be group into two brackets, thru drawing of lots. Top two teams in each bracket shall advance into semi-final round, A1 vs B2, B1 vs A2, winners shall play for championship and 1st runner-up and the loser shall play for 2nd and 3rd runner-up. However the last year team result shall be considered in the teams grouping.

4. MATCH FORMAT

All matches shall be played for TWO OUT OF THREE sets in the elimination, semi-finals and finals. A team that scores 21 points win a set. In case of 20-20 tie play continues until two points lead is achieved (22-20, 25-23 etc.). Should there be a 3rd or deciding set, a team that scores 15 points win the final set, with a maximum lead of two points wins
the final set.

5. CLASSIFICATION OF MATCH

5.1 The following points shall be taken into consideration to decide the team ranking:

Match won                  :                      2 points
Match lost                   :                      1 point
Forfeit                          :                      0 point

5.2 If two or more teams obtain the same points, the ranking shall be decided by the POINTS-QUOTIENTS, or the Total Number of points won over the total of points loss for the entire Matches played. The higher the quotient, the higher the rank.

5.3 If tie still exist after 5.2 the ranking shall be decided by the SET-QUOTIENT or by the total number of sets won over the total of set loss for the entire matches played. The higher the quotient, the higher the rank.

5.4 If in the event Two (2) teams are still tied after rule 5.2 and 5.3, winner over the other shall be applied.

6. UNIFORM:

Players shall wear same color and design of uniform and must be numbered 1, 2 and 3 for the substitute player.

7. ELIGIBILITY OF PLAYERS:

PRISAA rules on eligibility shall be strictly implemented.

8. AWARDS:

Top three finisher of each division (MEN/WOMEN) shall receive medals.
