I.      TECHNICAL GUIDELINES

– World Karate Federation Rules latest version 2022 (WKF) with Local Revisions

– Officiated by Karate Pilipinas Sports Federation, Inc. – NSA Inc. Licenses Referee’s and Judge’s

– Protective gears are required such as mouth piece, mitts, shin/instep guard with red and blue colored belts. (WKF or KPSF approved)

– Coaches must be KPSF-NSA, Inc./PRISAA KARATEDO Accredited or Licensed Coach/es – No accreditation no Coaching.

– Coaches with no license or accreditation must attend the special accreditation seminar sanctioned by PRISAA.

– Rules maybe subject to change without prior notice as the need arises.

II. ESTABLISHED GAMES/TOURNAMENT RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR KARATEDO

Stated hereunder are the rules and guidelines to be adopted in every karate do games/tournaments with the view of ensuring a well-organized and well executed tournament in accordance with World Karate do Federation (WKF) Kumite and Kata Rules Version 8.0 effective January 2022:

III. KARATE UNIFORM

1. Male player must wear white karate GI;
2. Female player must wear white karate GI;
3. Male and Female players must wear plain, white T-shirts beneath their Karate Jacket.
4. Wearing of protective gears is compulsory;
5. WKF or KPSF-NSA gears are allowed during the championships.
6. All athletes must wear WKF or KPSF-NSA approved body protector gear. Female athletes must wear Chest Protector gear.
7. WKF or KPSF-NSA approved mitts, foot guard, and shin guard must be worn by the athletes.
8. During matches/bouts, one contestant must wear red gear and the other blue gear.
9. Wearing of eye glasses is forbidden. Soft contact lenses can be worn at the contestant’s own risk.

IV. PLAYER

Must have short fingernails and must not wear metallic or other objects, which might injure their opponents. The use of metallic teeth braces must be approved by the Referee and the Official Doctor. The player accepts full responsibility for any injury he/she may incur on his/her opponent.

V. COACHES

Coaches shall at al times during the tournament, wear the official tracksuit of their Association/Club and display their official identification. Coaches shall accredited by PRISAA. During the medal bouts, the coaches must wear a formal attire.

1. Long sleeves with necktie (any color)
2. Pants, any color except maong
3. No rubber shoes

VI. COMPETITION AREA

The competition area will be a matted square of a WKF or KPSF-NSA approved type with sides of eight meters (measured from the outside) with an additional two meters on all sides as a safety area. There will be a clear safety area of two meters on each side.

KATA

Kata competition takes the form of Team and Individual matches. Team matches consist of competition between three person teams. Each team is exclusively male or exclusively female. The Individual Kata match consists of individual performance in separate male and female division.

Note : Contestants can play individual kumite, team kumite, individual kata and team kata.

VIII. DURATION

Duration of Kumite bout is defined as three minutes for senior’s male kumite (both team and individual) and four minutes in the individual bouts for medals. Senior female bouts will be two minutes and three minutes in the individual bouts for medals

Note : All KPSF-NSA Inc. active referees are duly issued with and authorized by virtue of their respective License Certificates.

College Division/High School Division

Kata competition takes the form of team and individual matches. Team matches consist of competition between three person teams. Each Team is exclusively male, or exclusively female. The individual Kata match consists of individual performance in separate male and female divisions.

High School KATA

Intermediate Kata                 :        Heian 3 to 5, Pinan 3 to 5

Novice Kata                          :        Heian 1 and 2, Pinan 1 and 2

NOTE: Contestant can play individual kumite, team kumite, individual kata, and team kata (SENIOR) YOUTH student is only allowed to play in one kata event.
